1. Junior Training 2026/27


Training Dates 2026/27:

Training dates for 2026/27 season are:

  • Sunday 13th September - Sunday 13th December inclusive (No training on 25th October due to half term holiday)
  • Sunday 10th January - Sunday 21st March inclusive (No training on 21st February due to half term holiday)
  • There will be NO training on Hertfordshire Hockey Festival dates (see Festivals page for details).


Location:

Training takes place at the 4G pitch at King James Academy, Garden Walk, Royston SG8 7JH. Please remember NO DOGS are allowed on the KJAR site.


Session times and groups:

General training takes place on Sunday mornings from 10.00 am to 11.15 am, for the following groups:

  • U8 (School years 2/3)
  • U10 (School years 4/5)
  • U12 (School years 6/7)
  • U14 (School years 8/9)

We also run a beginners/improvers session before the main training (9:30am - 10am). This is open to all players who are new to hockey or would like some additional coaching on specific skills. Please let us know if you plan to attend this session.

Goal keeping training takes place during the main session subject to demand and coach availability. Please let us know if you are interested in attending.

New players:

New players are always welcome and we invite you to come along for two free trial sessions. We have boots and hockey sticks available to borrow for people wanting to try it out.

Membership and Subscriptions:

The subscription for Junior players for the 2026/27 season is unchanged at £95.

Payment can be made via the Shop section on the RHC website (click here).


Kit:

All players should wear shin pads and mouth guards when playing (training and matches).

Footwear suitable for 4G pitches must be worn (moulded stud football boots or astro boots). Sorry, trainers are NOT allowed.

RHC kit for festivals can be purchased from MrCricketHockey. You can visit online or in person at The Old Blacksmiths Yard, Newnham Lane, Burwell, Cambridge, CB25 0EA

The password for the RHC shop is ‘RHC’

Kit colours will remain the same:

• White shirt (with RHC Logo)
• Black shorts/skort
• Black socks with white rings

You only need the RHC logo on the shirt, so other items can be bought elsewhere if you prefer.
