Bedford fielded a true Vets side and they brought with them the composure and confidence on the ball that was to be expected. Royston made good use of younger legs and dominated possession throughout the game, moving the ball with good speed. 1-0 at half time was a poor return from the number of chances created. Short and controlled passing opened up the pitch and stretched Bedford. It was the excellence of their back line that kept them in the game.
Royston continued their patient build-up play throughout the second half and although Bedford benefitted from a change up front, Royston's pressure told through 3 second half goals. One of their rare forays in to the Royston D lead to the awarding of a flick (!!) but Keith Markham saved and the 4-0 winning score was not an unfair reflection of the game.
The position M3s currently occupy in the league is a good reflection of a positive first half to the season, and there is every hope of more points to be had.
