Newly-promoted MBDA took on Royston M3 in the first league game of the new season under blue skies. After an initial scare, Royston enjoyed a very bright start, gaining a 4-0 lead in the first 20 minutes, with 2 more added before half time.
As the score line suggests, there was some very good play with quick ball movement, accurate passing and intelligent use of the ball in to the opposition D. The second half had many bright points, but yielded only 2 further goals following MBDA shuffling their formation at half time and loading their back line to limit the damage. There are some encouraging signs for the season ahead, but stiffer challenges await. Hat tricks for Colin Bateman and James Parsley, with Roddi Liebenberg and Matthew Bailey also contributing goals.
