Job done

Late fixture and a long journey - not really what the boys wanted. To further that poor availability and injuries meant we were down to 12. Ross in a blinding flash of inspiration managed to leave all his kit in a car 2.5hrs away (we look forward to the explanation - but she had better be beautiful) and we were down to the bare 11 with both Mike and Alex carrying injuries. An easy candidate for Dick of the Day however and good odds for Dick of the Year.
The boys responded well to this adversity and really put the effort in. Brox were a stronger side than their league position suggested with a goalkeeper borrowed from a higher team, one very skillful forward clearly from a higher team and several other good players. Roddi started us off well with a sweetly struck short corner and Alex M added another. Brox then however hit back as skillful one beat about four of us to finish well and leave it looking a bit precarious.
Second half was a lot better. Mike W was finding lots of space, Dan took good control at LB, George B used his skills to beat several players. Roddi topped a few shorts but then scored one well. Mike W also took two more (or was it Alex M one and Mike another - match sheets says Mike 2 Im afraid). Goalkeeper pulled off several great saves as well including tipping one over the bar. They hit back close to the end to make it 5-2 but the game was won.
Well done lads and thanks for all the effort. Its looking very tight at the top now and looks like it will be a fight between 4 of us - StAs 6s, Potters Bar, Stevenage and us for possibly 3 promotion places. Every game will count.
