We are top of the league

With both teams on equal points at the top of the table this was a key match, a real six pointer.
Royston started well moving the ball around nicely and we won an early short corner. Jake, having missed or lifted all his attempts in practice, struck a lovely shot to the left of the goalkeeper to put us 1-0 up.
Stevenage then began to work their way back into the game and it took some good saves from Wobbly to keep us in it at 1-0.
Stevenage started the second half strongly with Royston under pressure. Wobbly continued to pull off some strong saves and Roddi was rock solid at the back. Stevenage then managed to scramble one in.
Royston hit back to go 2-1 up but Stevenage continued to threaten. Wobbly made another good save pushing one over the crossbar.
Alex C then broke down the left and put in a delightful edge of the stick cross to the penalty spot which Archie deftly slipped past the goalkeeper. Further chances followed with Dan Minion making a great break down the right and along the baseline and RvP flicking high from a short corner.
A great result leaving Royston top of the table. But I think we all agreed there was room for improvement and as one of the Stevenage team said after the game, without your goalkeeper things could have been different.
