By the laws of probability, if you get 12 tap in chances in a game, you will probably score one.

Cheshunt have been a bit of a bogey team for Royston in recent seasons. Last season we lost in the home fixture as a BNO meant that most of the team couldn’t see straight. In the return fixture, we were dominated by a single player who had a similar issue. As a result, everyone was keen for a win, especially coming off the back of a tough, physical performance last week.

Things started well, with Oli G parking the ball in the back of the net with similar precision to his well-practiced parallel park. In fact, both Oli’s seemed much better at driving things forward on the pitch, than driving to the pitch (the real reason Callum was marginally late was because Chad was messing about trying to park, whilst Ruan was playing on his phone).

Toby L soon got in on the action by scoring a goal from the top of the D – a rare occurrence for Royston. Given the quality of the goal, he didn’t celebrate with enough pizzazz – please can this be recorded by the Fines Judge.

Cheshunt managed to get one back against the run of play, with Royston getting caught a bit high up the pitch. We’ll let Pete off though, because his tackling is normally v. good.

A goal followed from Carl. This wasn’t really a shock because, by the laws of probability, if you get 12 tap in chances in a game, you will probably score one. Maybe those beers weren’t such a good idea, eh?

Toby H got a nice reverse stick goal – not quite a tomahawk, but still worthy of mention. Josh then dithered about and somehow, they got another goal. Oli then scored a goal which I can’t really remember, but I do recall Bullet saying it was what we had been practicing so good work Oli. The final goal was probably the best; early pass from Chad, teasing assist for me and a cheeky finish from Toby.

In general, Royston dominated possession and played the type of hockey that could be key for attaining promotion this season. 6-2 was the final score, but Royston will be disappointed to have only scored 6 and let in 2, but a win is a win and Royston still close to the top of the table. Leaving screaming baby and/or angry wife at home, Rob W put in a MOTM performance for his composed performance in the midfield. Carl = DOTD – no arguments about that, its been coming for a while.
