As the Kiwi's succumbed to England in the rugby, finishing a cool 20 minutes before the Crows took the pitch, Royston succumbed to the better side.
Royston went into the fixture as underdogs in comparison to a St Albans side sitting pretty at the top of the table. Royston looked to switch up their system into a more defensive shape and were mostly successful as they restricted St Albans to only a few chances throughout the game. Unfortunately St Albans were very clinical with those chances and were able to convert 2 short corners as well as direct home after an incisive run from the left wing.
Royston also showed a clinical edge as James 'Moose' Biddlecombe was able to dispatch 2 short corners of his own, which set up a pulsating final 10 minutes with Royston going close on 2 occasions. Firstly, Toby Hall found himself through on goal after a successful high press to unfortunately pull up with a hamstring injury. Secondly, Carl Taylor was only able to find the woodwork after a quick Royston break away.
A game that could have gone either way, Royston found themselves disappointed to not come away with a point after a closely fought encounter against a good side.
