The Return of the King?

Hockey. It’s a cruel and exquisite mistress. Game after game players battle to assert dominance on the field of play. Legends come and go but heroes… heroes remain in our hearts forever. Alas, I bring to you dear reader, the much anticipated return of Henry King.

Now you may be wondering what is so special about the return of the King. Is it his gorgeous flowing locks? Is it his magnanimous demeaner? Is it perhaps (it definitely is) an attempt to completely ignore the 1-0 defeat away to Bishops Stortford? Who knows? All I know dear reader is that the prodigal son has returned so no pressure Henry. And welcome home!

If I must talk about the game, I do so begrudgingly. For, dear reader, I may have had a little accident. Not the kind of accident a child would have in a rush to reach the facilities, more a mistaken attempt to correct a ‘niggle’ by over compensating in the warm up. Yes, in truly the most DotD-est way possible, I may have misjudged the intensity of my own goalkeeping warm up and inadvertently ruined the game from the 16th minute, by flopping like a large beached beluga whale. IT wasn’t pretty but it was damn sure dramatic.

So, if you will entertain me this week dear reader, I would merely like to make a note of my greatest admiration for a player so often unnamed, who stepped up to stay in goal for the remainder of our hockey escapade. Whilst we did concede in his tenure the blame can only (and rightfully) on me and my inability to prepare. And as we all know, failing to prepare is preparing to fail. So, thanks Lyndon, you are a babe.
