The Mens teams play in the East Hockey Region South West Division
The Mens 1st Team played in Division 3SW this past season, where they finished as very deserved Champions, with a comfortable points margin over second. The target for the year was to achieve a promotion position, winning the league was a great bonus. The whole squad put in maximum effort all year, both at training and in the matches, and congratulations go to all of you as well as Manager Bob Biddlecombe, you had a fantastic season.
The Mens 2nd Team followed in the footsteps of the 1's and also ended up as Champions of Division 6SW, annihilating all opposition along the way, winning 20 out of their 22 games played, 1 draw and 1 loss! Not many other teams can boast that sort of performance. They scored 105 goals and only conceded 13, giving them the highest goal difference in the entire league. Fantastic effort lads.
Men's 2nd XI - Champions of Division 6SW 2009 - Well done guys!
The Mens 3rd Team came a very respectable 5th in Division 6SW league, not bad considering this was the second season in a row that they had been promoted. To finish in the top half of a tough league was a really tremendous result, and once again a strong performance by all players and consistent hockey helped no end. The youngsters in the squad really developed well throughout the season and they started to become much more dominant in the team's play. Well done lads.
Our Mens 4th Team finished mid-table in Division 7SW, a really good result for some of our 'more seasoned' players. This is a good position to build from for the coming season and we're sure they will progress up the table further. Well done to all of you.
The Mens 5th Team has a mixture of senior and young players, and unfortunately finished up at the bottom of the table. The results often did not reflect on how they played, and it was very promising to see many of our young Junior players coming into the side this year. Now that they've had a first taste of league hockey I'm sure we can expect some really good things from these players. Let's work hard and have a good season this coming year. Well done guys.
